Meta brings great news for WhatsApp web users on laptops or computers. Until now, voice or video calls can be easily made by adding a microphone to Messenger from the desktop, but WhatsApp Web did not have that facility. Without the WhatsApp application installed on the laptop, calls could not be made only through the browser. But WhatsApp has brought voice and video calling feature in its web browser version to end that limitation.

With this new update, WhatsApp Web will now work much like Zoom or Google Meet. All great features like group voice calls, group video calls, screen sharing and call link creation can now be enjoyed from the browser. As a result, small office meetings, team discussions or chatting with friends are now going to be easier.

How the feature will work
Accounts with this feature enabled will see a new call button inside group chats. Click on it to start a voice or video call. According to the organization, a maximum of 32 people can join a group call. Besides, a special link can be created and sent to others through the call link feature in the new update. Anyone can easily join the video call by clicking on that link.

Screen sharing and maximum security
WhatsApp also provides the facility of screen sharing from the browser during video calls. Besides, they have given special importance to the privacy and security of the users. The end-to-end encryption feature will also be active during group calls, video calls and screen sharing, as claimed by the company. As a result, users’ calls and exchanged data will be fully protected.

Who is getting this benefit?
For now, users who are using the beta version of WhatsApp are getting the benefit of this new feature in their web browser. In-browser calling facility will be rolled out to all general users gradually.
