Registration for ‘Bangladesh Mathematics and Science Olympiad (BdMSO) 2026’, the country’s largest merit-testing event for primary school students, has begun. Society for the Popularization of Science, Bangladesh (SPSB) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) are jointly organizing this Olympiad.

Through this competition, the 12-member Bangladesh national team will be selected for the 23rd International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO 2026) to be held in Indonesia from October 2 to 7.

To participate in the Olympiad, students must be under 13 years of age (born after October 1, 2013) and studying at a maximum of sixth grade or below. However, English medium students who will pass Class VII in July/August 2026 will not be eligible to participate. The competition will be in two categories—Olympiad category (6th standard and above) and Quiz category for junior students (3rd standard and below).

In the coming month of July, the national event will be held simultaneously in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Rangpur. After this 120 minutes test in English medium, a 3-day national residential camp will be conducted with the winners. After that, a total of 12 national teams of 6 each for Mathematics and Science will be formed through the final examination. At the 22nd IMSO held in Malaysia last year, all 12 students from Bangladesh achieved 100% success by winning medals (2 silver and 10 bronze).

BDOSN and SPSB president Munir Hasan said, “Our aim is not just rote learning, but to spread the joy of mathematics and science among young students and to develop logical thinking skills.” Interested students can register by visiting the bdmso.org website throughout the month of June.
