Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) has highlighted research, innovation and entrepreneurship development as important foundations for technology-based economic growth. University authorities say that the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution are rapidly changing the structure of education, industry and employment and the main challenge now is to develop skilled human resources to match these changes.
On Friday, June 19, the ITBI Student Startup Pitch Fest-2026 opening ceremony titled “From Idea to Incubation” held at the IT Business Incubator Auditorium, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Mateen Bhuiyan says these things.
He said the proliferation of artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things, big data analytics, blockchain, cloud computing and automation are creating new realities in industry and business as well as education and employment. In this context, the role of universities in creating an environment for research and technological innovation is becoming more important.
Speakers at the event emphasized the need for incubation, mentorship and entrepreneurial support to transform students’ ideas into commercial and viable solutions.
According to the organizers, more than 150 students and inventors from various universities of the country participated in the competition. Participating teams pitch their startup ideas to expert judges and industry representatives.
Team Borno placed first, Team Livora placed second and Sync Robotics placed third in the competition. A total of 13 teams, including the winning team, will be provided access to incubation facilities, work environment, expert mentorship and entrepreneurial network at the ITBI Startup Floor for six months.
Startup pitch sessions, expert exchanges, incubator visits and entrepreneurship development activities were held as part of the event.
