The City Corporation has taken the initiative of a special project with the help of AI technology to ease traffic congestion and restore order in the Chittagong metropolis. The DPP has already been prepared at a cost of 217 crores and 33 lakhs, said the mayor. Shahadat Hossain. At the same time, safe city and solar power projects have also been undertaken at a cost of Tk 445 crore.
Chasik Mayor said, we have raised the whole matter through a meeting yesterday. These two projects have been undertaken to develop AI based smart traffic system and safe city. Out of this, the cost of one is 217 crore 33 lakh taka and the cost of the other is 445 crore taka. These cameras will be installed in 56 traffic zones and intersections of the city.
According to Chasik sources, this project is being given top priority as part of making Chittagong a ‘Clean, Green, Healthy, Safe and Smart City’. 56 very important intersections and busy traffic zones of the city have been brought under the project. This will result in automated smart signals and traffic flow monitoring cameras. In particular, this technology has an automatic system to identify cars that violate traffic laws and red light (red signal) violators. It also has advanced detection system to recognize vehicle number plates.
The acting chief executive officer and secretary of Chasik discussed various technical and administrative aspects of the project in the meeting. Ashraful Amin, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, Supervising Engineer Farhadul Alam and Abu Sadat Tayyab, along with senior officials of the consultancy firm.
